Midstate Electric

The economy in and around the Midstate Electric service territory depends heavily on tourism, construction, and logging, however, in recent years, central Oregon has been struggling. As local businesses have downsized and closed, many residents have lost their jobs. Midstate normally charges a minimum deposit to establish new service, but the amount of the deposit increases if the account has a history of late payments and disconnections. As local economic conditions have worsened, more accounts have become delinquent, but few residents have sufficient cash to pay the higher deposits.

The solution is prepaid accounts using the EnergyAxis technology in combination with Exceleron Software’s PAMS (Prepaid Account Management System) platform.
